Novagold Awards 215 MW Plant, 316-Mile Pipeline and POX Engineering Contracts

NGNG

Novagold and Donlin Gold awarded WSP a 215 MW dual-fired power plant contract, Worley a 316-mile natural gas pipeline contract and Hatch the pressure oxidation and oxygen plant for the BFS update. Fluor will integrate these workstreams into a unified framework, with BFS completion in 2027.

1. Contract Awards to Engineering Firms

Novagold and Donlin Gold have engaged three specialist contractors to advance key sections of the Bankable Feasibility Study. WSP USA will design and engineer a 215 MW dual-fired (natural gas/diesel) power plant, Worley Alaska will handle a 316-mile buried natural gas pipeline, and Hatch will deliver the pressure oxidation circuit and on-site oxygen plant.

2. Infrastructure Project Details

The WSP scope includes detailed power generation systems, control engineering, civil and structural design for modular construction. Worley’s responsibilities cover pipeline routing, gas handling, environmental integration and permitting for fuel delivery from Cook Inlet. Hatch will develop the autoclave-based POX processing technology and oxygen supply systems to treat refractory gold ore prior to cyanidation.

3. BFS Integration and Timeline

All specialist workstreams will be coordinated by Fluor to ensure alignment within a single execution framework, improving schedule efficiency and cost accuracy. The integrated engineering, cost and schedule model is expected to be finalized by 2027, positioning the Donlin Gold project for subsequent financing and development phases.
