Novo Nordisk's semaglutide improves liver health in non-obese MASH patients in trial analysis

Novo Nordisk will present research on Wegovy and investigational efruxifermin at The Liver Meeting in Denver, November 5-9, 2026. A post-hoc analysis of the phase 3 ESSENCE trial found semaglutide improved liver health in non-obese participants with MASH, while analyses from the phase 2b SYMMETRY trial found efruxifermin improved liver scarring in participants with MASH cirrhosis, including those with cardiometabolic conditions. A retrospective study will compare semaglutide and resmetirom on liver enzymes and cardiometabolic markers in routine clinical practice.
