Novo Nordisk’s oral GLP-1 treatment Wegovy has achieved over 3 million U.S. prescriptions within five months of launch, gaining 1 million scripts in the first 10–12 weeks and 2 million in the following 10 weeks, demonstrating rapid patient uptake.

More than 80% of new Wegovy prescriptions were written for patients with no prior GLP-1 therapy, indicating strong appeal among injection-averse users and positioning Novo Nordisk to narrow the gap with oral competitors introduced by Eli Lilly in April.
