1. FDA approves injection
NRx Pharmaceuticals said the FDA approved its preservative-free ketamine injection ahead of the agency’s November 10 target decision date. The company said it has commercial supply ready and can now supply U.S. hospitals and clinics.
2. Shortage since 2018
Ketamine is used mainly for anesthesia and pain control, and injections have been in shortage since 2018 and remain on the FDA drug shortage list, the company said. NRx said its version removes benzethonium chloride, a preservative included in currently marketed ketamine products.
