Anthropic, Nscale reportedly in talks for new $45 billion AI cloud computing deal
NVDA•Anthropic and Nscale are reportedly discussing a new deal worth about $45 billion for computing power at Nscale’s West Virginia campus. A second facility could provide 460 megawatts using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin AI chips.
1. Potential second facility
Nscale is in talks to sell computing power to Anthropic for a second facility at its Monarch data center campus in West Virginia. The potential deal could be worth about $45 billion, and discussions are ongoing, with details subject to change.
2. Capacity and prior deal
The second Monarch building would deliver 460 megawatts of computing power using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin AI chips, the report said. In August, Anthropic struck a deal to spend $45 billion to rent AI cloud computing power from Nscale’s West Virginia campus. Anthropic also has a right of first refusal on the expected third building.
3. Nscale customer plans
Nscale’s prospectus identifies Microsoft and Anthropic as expected major customers. Microsoft recently pulled out of a deal to anchor a flagship Nscale data center after power connection delays pushed the expected supply date into the 2030s.
