Nuwellis Cuts Aquadex Step Size to 5 mL/hr, Boosts Pediatric Precision
Nuwellis reduced Aquadex SmartFlow® ultrafiltration adjustment step size from 10 mL/hr to 5 mL/hr to enable finer fluid control in pediatric patients. The update also refines blood flow algorithms to cut nuisance alarms, adds a resistance graph for early clotting alerts and expands hourly data logs.
1. Software Update Details
The latest Aquadex SmartFlow® software release reduces ultrafiltration step size from 10 mL/hr to 5 mL/hr, refines its blood flow algorithm to minimize nuisance alarms, introduces an enhanced blood flow resistance graph for early clotting detection, and expands the hourly data log with additional therapy metrics.
2. Pediatric Fluid Management Focus
Reducing step size enables clinicians to administer precise small-volume fluid shifts critical in pediatric care, which represents Nuwellis’ fastest-growing user segment, improving patient safety and treatment accuracy in this sensitive population.
3. Deployment and Access
Existing Aquadex customers can deploy the update at no cost through standard field-supported processes, allowing seamless integration into clinical workflows and immediate access to the enhanced usability and therapy monitoring features.
