Nvidia generated $2.1 billion in data center Ethernet switching revenue in Q1, a 192.7% year-over-year surge that delivered a 21.5% market share lead. Global data center switching revenue rose 61% to $10 billion as AI-driven demand for high-speed interconnects boosted adoption of Nvidia’s Spectrum-X platform.
Nvidia led the data center Ethernet switching segment in Q1 by posting $2.1 billion in revenue, marking its first time at the top of this market and earning a 21.5% share. This performance surpassed long-time players and underscored Nvidia’s expanding role beyond GPUs.
The company’s Spectrum-X networking platform saw widespread uptake as enterprises training larger AI models demanded faster connections between GPUs, servers and storage. This surge in AI workloads was a key factor behind the 192.7% year-over-year revenue jump.
Overall Ethernet switch revenue climbed 39.8% to $15.4 billion, with data center switching up 61% to $10 billion. Arista remained a close second in the data center segment, while Cisco continued to lead the broader switching market.
Nvidia’s challenge now is to defend its lead as rivals accelerate development of high-performance switches. Sustained innovation and supply chain execution will be critical as Cisco, Arista and Broadcom prepare counter-offers in the AI networking arena.
