Russell Goldman named Science desk news director

The New York Times named Russell Goldman news director for its Science desk, serving as the lead news editor and main point of contact.

Goldman most recently served as the International desk’s senior global news editor, helping set daily news coverage priorities.

His prior roles include regional Middle East editor and a five-year posting in Hong Kong, including helping launch a Wuhan lockdown live blog in 2020.

Goldman is expected to join the Science desk full-time in September.
