Off The Hook Yachts Acquires Chesapeake Bay Hub, Cuts $500/Boat Storage Costs
Off The Hook Yachts acquired a waterfront property on Kent Island, Maryland, establishing a 150-boat storage hub on Chesapeake Bay to streamline inventory velocity and on-site reconditioning. The site eliminates about $500 monthly third-party storage costs per boat, adds financing and logistics capabilities, projecting higher transaction volume and margins.
1. Acquisition of Chesapeake Bay Hub
Off The Hook Yachts acquired a waterfront property at Piney Narrows on Kent Island, Maryland, establishing its Mid-Atlantic operational hub on the high-traffic Chesapeake Bay corridor. The site features direct water access, integrated launch and haul-out infrastructure, and four office buildings to support brokerage, logistics and financing divisions.
2. Elimination of Third-Party Storage Costs
The new facility accommodates up to 150 boats, enabling Off The Hook to eliminate approximately $500 per boat monthly third-party storage fees and reduce recurring expenses by an estimated $75,000 per month at full capacity. Ownership of the property also removes storage constraints and cost variability associated with external providers.
3. Operational Enhancements and Growth Outlook
Centralizing inventory on site allows for faster inspection, reconditioning and transaction execution while leveraging the company’s AI platform to match supply with demand in real time. Off The Hook plans to staff 15–20 yacht brokers at the hub and expects meaningful increases in annual transaction volume and margin capture from improved efficiency and integrated on-site services.
