XLE•Oil prices climb to three-week highs
Oil prices climbed to more than three-week highs on Thursday, driven by concerns that the impasse in the Iran war will continue to disrupt supply from the key Middle Eastern producing region.
Brent crude futures for October delivery were up $2.19, or 2.39%, to $93.81 a barrel at 1257 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for September added $2.33 to $88.16 a barrel. The more-active October WTI contract was up $2.44, or 2.89%, to $86.83.
Both Brent and WTI benchmarks hit their highest since July 24 and gained for a fifth straight session. The September WTI contract expires later on Thursday.
