Oklo received U.S. Department of Energy startup authorization for its Groves Isotope Test Reactor under the DOE Reactor Pilot Program.
The authorization clears fuel loading, startup testing and reactor operations, including first criticality for the low-power test reactor.
A DOE readiness review found engineering, staffing, procedures, training and safety programs sufficient to begin operations.
Groves was privately financed, built on private land and positioned as a repeatable model for scaling future reactor and isotope-production projects.
