Old Second Q2 FY26 net income rises 10.16% to $28.2 million; NIM widens 9 basis points to 5.23%

Old Second posted second-quarter 2026 net income of $28.2 million, up 10.16% from the prior quarter; diluted EPS rose to $0.54.
- Net interest and dividend income increased 2.69% to $83.3 million.
- Fully tax-equivalent net interest margin widened 0.09 percentage point to 5.23%.
- Provision for credit losses fell 21.05% to $7.5 million.
- Nonperforming loans declined to $56.5 million, pushing the nonperforming-loan ratio down to 1.08%.
- Total loans climbed to $5.25 billion.
- Total deposits slipped 2.16% to $5.44 billion, with deposit costs easing to 1%.
Jim Eccher cited “exceptional” margin performance and disciplined efficiency, noting lower problem assets and tangible common equity to tangible assets rising to 11.19%.
