Ondas and Heidelberg Form ONBERG JV for Drone Defense Manufacturing in Germany
Ondas and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG have established ONBERG Autonomous Systems JV to integrate OAS counter-UAS and ISR platforms with German precision engineering, initially targeting deployments in Germany and Ukraine. The venture will localize sales, R&D and industrial-scale production at Brandenburg an der Havel, strengthening Europe's sovereign defense capabilities by protecting critical infrastructure and borders.
1. Formation of ONBERG Joint Venture
Ondas Inc. and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG’s HD Advanced Technologies GmbH subsidiary have formalized their December 2025 memorandum by creating ONBERG Autonomous Systems. The joint venture combines Ondas Autonomous Systems’ counter-UAS, ISR and autonomous security technologies with Heidelberg’s 175-year engineering legacy and scalable manufacturing infrastructure.
2. Localized Production and Roadmap
ONBERG will expand the Brandenburg an der Havel facility into a center of excellence for autonomous defense systems, establishing permanent sales, development and industrial production capabilities. The roadmap includes phased rollout: initial distribution and integration, followed by localized assembly and full-scale manufacturing using European supply chains.
3. Technology and Initial Deployments
The venture will market and deploy proven OAS platforms such as the Iron Drone Raider and ISR systems across Germany and Ukraine in the first phase. Integration of AI-enabled aerial and ground robots with advanced sensor fusion and interception capabilities aims to deliver a layered defense architecture tailored to regional operational needs.
4. Strategic Impact on European Defense
ONBERG seeks to bolster sovereign defense by protecting critical infrastructure, borders and military assets against evolving drone threats. By combining American-Israeli high-tech innovation with German precision engineering and industrial scale, the JV supports rapid deployment, high-volume production and long-term resilience in allied markets.
