Oracle Unveils Java 26 with 10 JDK Proposals, HTTP/3, and Cloud Support

Oracle launched Java 26 with 10 JDK proposals, faster G1 garbage collection, HTTP/3 support and new PEM encoding plus hybrid public-key encryption for AI and security. The Java Verified Portfolio offers commercial support for Helidon and JavaFX, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is the first platform to support Java 26.

1. Java 26 Key Enhancements

Java 26 introduces 10 JDK Enhancement Proposals, including optimizations to the G1 garbage collector that accelerate memory management and new HTTP/3 support in the HTTP Client API to improve network performance. It also integrates PEM encoding and hybrid public-key encryption to strengthen cryptographic operations and bolster AI-driven workloads.

2. Launch of Java Verified Portfolio

Oracle released the Java Verified Portfolio alongside Java 26, providing commercial support for the Helidon microservices framework and JavaFX UI toolkit. This synchronized support model ensures that enterprises receive updates and security patches for these tools concurrently with each new Java release.

3. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Integration

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is the first cloud platform certified to run Java 26, highlighting Oracle’s strategy to fuse its development tools with its cloud services. By making OCI the primary launch environment, Oracle aims to accelerate cloud migration and increase usage of its infrastructure offerings among Java developers.
