Oracle Powers First African Clinical Trial Recruiting 1,106 Participants

ORCLORCL

Oracle has launched its first PROTECT-Africa clinical trial with ACRN, recruiting 1,106 pregnant women across Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Tanzania since February 2026 to validate placental biomarkers for pre-eclampsia outcomes. ACRN selected Oracle Clinical One, Argus Safety and analytics to automate workflows, manage data and enhance patient safety.

1. Partnership Launch with ACRN

Oracle has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Africa Clinical Research Network (ACRN) to support its inaugural clinical trial across multiple African nations. This marks Oracle's first major entry into Africa’s clinical research landscape, leveraging its cloud and safety platforms to empower local investigators.

2. PROTECT-Africa Trial Scope

The PROTECT-Africa trial commenced in February 2026 and aims to recruit 1,106 pregnant women in Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Tanzania to evaluate placental biomarkers for predicting severe pre-eclampsia outcomes. The study addresses critical maternal and fetal health challenges, including eclampsia and HELLP syndrome, in resource-limited settings.

3. Oracle Technologies Deployed

ACRN will utilize Oracle Clinical One for trial management, Argus Safety for pharmacovigilance and advanced analytics for data insights. These tools are designed to streamline trial workflows, ensure data integrity and accelerate patient-centric research across the network's 59 sites in 14 countries.

4. Business Implications for Oracle

This collaboration positions Oracle to expand its life sciences footprint in emerging markets and secure long-term contracts for its clinical trial platform. Success in Africa could open new revenue streams and bolster Oracle’s reputation in global health research solutions.
