Orange, Telesat open first European Lightspeed satellite gateway in France
ORAN•Orange and Telesat opened the first European gateway for Telesat’s Lightspeed satellite constellation in Bercenay-en-Othe, France. The site has 10 antennas and two 100 Gbps terrestrial routes and is designed to support a constellation planned at 225 satellites.
1. Gateway infrastructure
The gateway targets secure, low-latency satellite connectivity for businesses, public authorities and critical-use cases, including emergency communications in low-coverage areas. It connects to Telesat’s Paris point of presence through two 100 Gbps terrestrial routes and includes 10 new antennas, six of them 4-meter tracking dishes. Orange aims to expand the site’s role as a European hub for additional satellite-operator partners.
