Origin Agritech subsidiary Guizhou Origin launches stress-tolerant corn breeding project
SEED•Origin Agritech’s wholly owned subsidiary Guizhou Origin Biotechnology launched a stress-tolerant corn breeding project targeting Southwest China. It is set to receive RMB 1.1 million, pending final administrative procedures, as part of a project running from September 2026 to August 2029 with a total budget of RMB 24.32 million.
1. Project funding and goals
Guizhou Origin Biotechnology will develop high-yield, stress-tolerant hybrids within China Agricultural University’s breeding program, using biotechnology and large-scale doubled haploid production. Across all participants, the project targets commercialization on 200,000 hectares and yield gains of at least 10% in core demonstration zones.
