Ormat Technologies Unveils 100 MW Ormega100 Binary Unit for EGS Scaling
ORA•Ormat Technologies introduced the Ormega100, the industry’s largest binary surface power unit delivering 100 MW in a single modular package, to accelerate commercialization of Enhanced Geothermal Systems. Leveraging 1,835 MW of connected capacity, 400,000 acres of geothermal leases and two strategic EGS pilot programs, Ormat aims to scale next-generation geothermal deployments.
1. Ormega100 Binary Unit Launch
Ormat introduced the Ormega100, the industry’s largest binary surface power generation unit engineered to deliver 100 MW output in a single autonomous module. The scalable design targets the high-temperature conditions of Enhanced Geothermal Systems, enabling faster commercialization and deployment compared with existing binary solutions.
2. EGS Pilot Programs and Scaling
Ormat’s dedicated EGS team is advancing two strategic pilot programs that integrate novel subsurface stimulation technologies with established surface power units. These pilots aim to demonstrate proof-of-concept for expanded geothermal resource extraction and pave the way for accelerated Enhanced Geothermal System rollouts.
3. Geothermal Portfolio and Infrastructure
With 60 years of expertise, Ormat operates 1,835 MW connected to transmission and holds 400,000 acres of geothermal leases across six states. The company leverages vertically integrated design, manufacturing and permitting capabilities to support rapid deployment of next-generation geothermal projects.
