Over 700 US power generation projects accepted in grid operator PJM's interconnection process

Aug. 3 (Reuters) - The biggest U.S. grid operator, PJM Interconnection, said on Monday 715 generation projects capable of producing 200 gigawatts of electricity had qualified for study in the first cycle of its reformed interconnection process.

The grid operator for 13 states in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest said in a statement this would be the first group of proposed generation resources to be processed under a new approach designed to reduce speculative projects, improve predictability and increase the overall pace of interconnection.

The projects will undergo a review expected to take one to two years, depending on their impacts, the grid operator said.
