Pacific Gas and Electric Opens $1.8M Wildfire Grant Program, $1M in Awards
PCG•Pacific Gas and Electric and California Fire Foundation launched a wildfire safety grant cycle offering $1.8 million in funding, with applications accepted through July 8, 2026 and awards notified starting August 10. This year’s awards have increased to $1 million from $950,000 in 2025, marking $12.25 million contributed since 2018.

Pacific Gas and Electric and California Fire Foundation announced the 2026 Wildfire Safety and Preparedness Program, providing $1.8 million in total support. Applications are open through July 8, 2026, with award notifications beginning August 10.
2. Increased Funding and Past Awards
This cycle increases grant awards to $1 million from $950,000 in 2025 as part of a nine-year partnership. Since 2018, the program has delivered $12.25 million in grants funding protective equipment, vegetation management and prescribed burns.
3. Funding Source and Community Focus
Contributions are paid by PG&E shareholders, not customers, and target underserved communities in Northern and Central California identified as high fire risk. The program supports specialized gear, defensible space projects and multi-lingual fire safety outreach.
