PSN•Parsons has secured the design oversight and construction oversight contracts for the John A. Blatnik Bridge replacement project, valued at $1.1 to $1.4 billion. The project replaces the 1961 I-535 bridge between Duluth, MN, and Superior, WI, with design-build delivery starting Fall 2026 and traffic opening in 2031.

Parsons secured both design oversight and construction oversight roles for the John A. Blatnik Bridge replacement on I-535, with a contract value ranging from $1.1 billion to $1.4 billion. The award extends Parsons’ involvement from preliminary engineering into full design-build delivery.

The project will replace the original 1961 bridge connecting Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin, carrying about 33,900 vehicles daily. Design-build work begins Fall 2026, with early demolition of the existing span in the five-year schedule and traffic projected to open in 2031.
