PayPal denied a $2,407.88 refund after an Airbnb account hack, issuing just $110 and prompting a collections notice for the customer. Separately, Faruqi & Faruqi filed a securities class action against PayPal and set an April 20 deadline for affected investors to seek lead plaintiff status.

1. Customer Refund Dispute

Teresa Santos’s Airbnb account was hacked, resulting in a $2,407.88 charge to her PayPal account. Although the Airbnb host approved a full refund, PayPal returned only $110 and left the remaining balance in collections, risking damage to her credit score.

2. Securities Class Action

Faruqi & Faruqi has initiated a federal securities class action against PayPal for investors who purchased shares between Feb. 8, 2024 and Feb. 2, 2026. The firm reminds eligible investors that they have until April 20 to file for lead plaintiff status in the suit.
