PBF refineries to operate up to 92% of capacity in third quarter

Independent U.S. refiner PBF Energy plans to operate its refineries at up to 92% of their combined capacity of 1.04 million barrels per day in the third quarter, the company said in reporting second-quarter earnings on Thursday.

PBF expects to finish repairs to a reformer damaged during a May fire at its 190,000-bpd Chalmette, Louisiana, refinery in the current third quarter, the company said during a conference call with analysts.

PBF has delayed planned overhauls at its Chalmette refinery and 172,800-bpd Toledo, Ohio, refinery to 2027 from 2026 following risk-assessment inspections.

The company plans an overhaul of the hydrocracker at its 156,400-bpd Martinez, California, refinery in the third quarter, PBF said.

Delaying some planned refinery overhauls allowed PBF to cut its 2026 capital spending to between $825 million and $875 million, down $50 million to $60 million from the company's estimate at the beginning of the year.
