Peabody Energy reported third-quarter revenue of $1.10 billion, above the $1.03 billion analyst estimate, while adjusted EBITDA of $97.5 million missed expectations. The company reported a $32.8 million net loss and updated its 2026 seaborne volume guidance.
Third-quarter revenue rose and beat analyst expectations, driven by higher seaborne thermal coal prices. Adjusted EBITDA was $97.5 million, below the $106.5 million estimate. Peabody reported a $32.8 million net loss attributable to the company and a loss per share of $0.27.
Peabody expects fourth-quarter seaborne thermal volume of 3.6 million to 3.8 million tons, at costs of $46 to $51 per ton. It raised 2026 seaborne thermal export volume guidance by 0.2 million tons and lowered seaborne metallurgical volume guidance by 0.6 million tons, with costs up $15 per ton.
Higher export prices expanded margins and improved seaborne thermal segment results. Improved realized pricing and strong production at Metropolitan supported metallurgical results, while geological issues at Centurion increased costs and slowed production; the company said it met sales targets. Peabody repurchased $38.9 million of convertible notes, reducing its share count.
