PepsiCo Partners with Carlsberg to Launch Poppi in 1,500 UK Outlets

PEPPEP

PepsiCo will launch its Poppi prebiotic soda in the UK this April via Carlsberg’s network, targeting 1,200 pubs and 300 retail outlets. The tie-up leverages Poppi’s $200 million U.S. annual sales to pursue a slice of the £6.4 billion UK soft drink market.

1. Partnership Details

PepsiCo has struck a strategic agreement with Carlsberg to introduce its Poppi prebiotic soda to the UK market. Under the deal, Carlsberg will manage production, warehousing and logistics for Poppi’s UK rollout.

2. Distribution Plan

The initial launch in April will see Poppi stocked in 1,200 on-trade locations, including pubs and bars, alongside 300 off-trade retail outlets. Carlsberg will utilize its existing cold-chain network to ensure nationwide coverage.

3. Product and Market Context

Poppi generated approximately $200 million in U.S. retail sales last year by marketing its prebiotic apple cider vinegar formula to health-conscious consumers. The UK soft drink sector is valued at about £6.4 billion, presenting significant growth potential.

4. Strategic Outlook

PepsiCo aims to replicate Poppi’s U.S. momentum by scaling production and expanding to additional European markets if UK performance meets targets. Incremental beverage sales could contribute low-double-digit millions in revenue during the first year of UK operations.
