Perez drove a showrun on Paseo de la Reforma before an estimated 100,000 people, performing tyre-smoking doughnuts and greeting fans. The event was his fourth showrun in Mexico during his Formula One career and came ahead of his 300th Grand Prix start.
2. Contract extended
Perez, a six-times Grand Prix winner, returned to the grid this year with Cadillac. The team announced earlier on Wednesday that he had signed a multi-year contract extension until 2029. Fans at the free event included people who said they could not get tickets to the Grand Prix or afford them.
