Petrobras has contracted Subsea7 under a SURF agreement valued above $1.25bn for engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation at the 17-well Sépia 2 field in the Santos Basin. Offshore operations are slated to commence in 2029, reinforcing Petrobras’ deep-water pre-salt development programme.

1. Contract Value and Scope

Petrobras has awarded Subsea7 a SURF contract valued in excess of $1.25 billion for the Sépia 2 field development in the Santos Basin. The scope includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and pre-commissioning of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines for 17 wells and a gas export line with 18 risers.

2. Project Timeline and Technical Details

Sépia 2 lies about 280 km southeast of Rio de Janeiro in 2,170 m water depth. Project management and engineering began immediately in Rio de Janeiro, Paris and Sutton, with offshore installation scheduled to start in 2029.

3. Strategic Pre-Salt Expansion

This contract supports Petrobras’ ongoing expansion of its pre-salt resource base, one of the company’s top investment priorities. The award underscores Petrobras’ commitment to deep-water development and sustained capital expenditure in Brazil’s offshore sector.
