Petrobras Búzios Field Hits 1.1 Million Bpd Record with P-78, P-79
PBR•Petrobras' Búzios field reached a record average production of 1.1 million barrels per day, exceeding the prior 1 million bpd milestone set in October 2025. The output surge reflects commissioning of the P-78 and P-79 FPSOs, each with 180,000 bpd capacity, alongside additional wells coming online.
1. Record Production Achievement
The Búzios field reached an average output of 1.1 million barrels per day, surpassing the October 2025 record of 1 million bpd. This milestone makes Búzios only the second Petrobras field to exceed 1 million bpd, underscoring its strategic importance in the Santos Basin.
2. FPSOs Fuel Growth
Production gains were driven by the recent commissioning of the P-78 and P-79 FPSOs, each with a nameplate capacity of 180,000 bpd. These units join six existing facilities—including the 270,000 bpd Almirante Tamandaré—to bring total operating FPSOs at Búzios to eight.
3. Expansion and Future Capacity
Petrobras plans to expand to 12 FPSOs at Búzios, with P-80, P-82 and P-83 under construction and a twelfth unit in procurement. Advances in engineering, project management and well tie-in processes have accelerated deployment and are set to drive further output growth.
