Pfizer Seals $10.5B Innovent Biologics Deal and LORBRENA Shows 7-Year PFS
PFE•Pfizer agreed to license and co-develop 12 early-stage cancer programs with Innovent Biologics in a deal worth up to $10.5 billion, featuring a $650 million upfront payment, $9.85 billion in milestones and double-digit royalties on net sales. Seven-year CROWN trial data for LORBRENA showed unprecedented progression-free survival in advanced ALK-positive NSCLC patients.
1. $10.5 Billion Innovent Licensing Agreement
Pfizer and Innovent Biologics will collaborate on 12 early-stage oncology programs including eight Innovent discoveries and four Pfizer proposals, with Innovent overseeing Phase 1 trials. Pfizer will fund global development for four assets, secure non-China rights and costs on another four, and share expenses, profits and commercialization responsibilities on the remaining programs under a three-tier structure.
2. Seven-Year LORBRENA CROWN Trial Results
Long-term follow-up from the Phase 3 CROWN trial showed a 55% progression-free survival rate at seven years for LORBRENA in ALK-positive NSCLC, the longest PFS recorded in this setting. These durable outcomes bolster lorlatinib’s competitive edge over crizotinib and may drive sustained adoption in advanced lung cancer care.
