pH7 Technologies Secures C$5M for Closed-Loop Copper Cathode Production Tests
TGB•pH7 Technologies has secured up to C$5 million from Natural Resources Canada to evaluate its closed-loop copper extraction process for producing cathodes. The funding will underwrite pilot-scale testing of the hydrometallurgical method aimed at improving copper recovery and reducing waste.
1. Funding Agreement Details
pH7 Technologies entered into a funding agreement with Natural Resources Canada’s Clean Growth Program for up to C$5 million to advance its copper cathode production technology. The non‐dilutive support covers evaluation phases, including lab and pilot studies.
2. Closed-Loop Extraction Pilot
The company will apply the funds to test a closed-loop hydrometallurgical process designed to leach, recover and recycle copper with minimal reagent loss and environmental discharge. Pilot trials will assess recovery rates, purity levels and process scalability.
3. Strategic Implications
Successful validation could lower industrial cathode production costs, enhance pH7’s competitive position in the copper market and pave the way for commercial partnerships or additional government grants.
