Philips’ 2026 Future Health Index finds AI tools save clinicians 132 hours annually—over three working weeks—and enable half to see eight more patients per week. Yet 70% report inadequate AI training while 39% used AI to avert at least three potential medical errors recently.
The Future Health Index 2026 polled over 2,000 healthcare professionals and 20,000 patients across ten countries to assess AI integration in clinical workflows and patient engagement.
Clinicians report average annual time savings of 132 hours—more than three full working weeks—with 50% able to see eight additional patients per week and 65% increasing their use of AI tools at work.
Despite 59% of clinicians acknowledging leadership support, 70% cite inadequate or inconsistent AI training, highlighting needs in accuracy validation, technical navigation and legal liability, while fragmented IT environments hinder consistent deployment.
Automating routine tasks reduces stress for 49% of clinicians and boosts decision-making confidence for 65%, with 39% using AI to identify or prevent at least three potential medical errors recently.
