PLDT auditor SGV resigns over lack of independence
PHI•SGV resigned as PLDT’s independent auditor on October 31, 2026, citing a lack of independence in opinions on its 2025 financial statements and internal controls. PLDT appointed Isla Lipana/PwC Philippines as auditor effective November 2, 2026.
1. Auditor resignation
SyCip Gorres Velayo (SGV) notified PLDT of its resignation as independent registered public accounting firm on October 31, 2026. SGV cited a lack of independence in issuing opinions on PLDT’s IFRS financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, and on internal control over financial reporting; both opinions appeared in PLDT’s April 27, 2026, filing.
2. New auditor appointed
PLDT appointed Isla Lipana/PwC Philippines effective November 2, 2026, to audit financial statements prepared under Philippine Financial Reporting Standards.
