PlusAI to Deploy NVIDIA Alpamayo Model in Factory-Built Level 4 Trucks for 2027 Launch

CCIXCCIX

PlusAI will integrate NVIDIA’s Alpamayo foundation model, DRIVE Hyperion hardware and Halos safety system into its SuperDrive virtual driver for factory-built Level 4 autonomous trucks targeted to begin commercial operations in 2027. It uses a teacher-student AI model for low-latency edge inference and will undergo ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434 and ISO PAS 8800 certification.

1. Expanded NVIDIA Collaboration

PlusAI has broadened its partnership with NVIDIA to integrate Alpamayo foundation model, DRIVE Hyperion hardware and Halos safety system, aiming to commercialize SuperDrive for fully driverless operations on factory-built trucks starting in 2027.

2. AI Reasoning and Edge Deployment

The system employs a 10-billion-parameter Vision-Language-Action model trained with reinforcement learning for advanced reasoning, paired with a 0.5-billion-parameter student model that delivers millisecond-level inference on automotive-grade hardware.

3. Factory-Built Level 4 Trucks

In collaboration with International Motors, PlusAI will deliver Level 4 autonomous trucks engineered from the factory floor up with integrated lidar, radar, cameras, NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor SoC and SuperDrive software rather than retrofit kits.

4. Independent Safety Certification

PlusAI joined the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab to pursue ISO 26262 functional safety, ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity and ISO PAS 8800 AI safety certification, bolstering final regulatory approvals for global commercial deployment.
