1. Gen-7 Robotaxi Cost Reduction and Fleet Expansion
At Auto China 2026, Pony.ai announced its 2027 Gen-7 Robotaxi total cost—including base vehicle and autonomous driving kit—will fall below RMB230,000, a 70% reduction in kit bill-of-materials cost relative to previous models. The fleet has grown from 270 to over 1,400 vehicles, with unit-economics breakeven achieved in two southern Chinese hubs and registered users surpassing one million.
2. Introduction of Fully Redundant L4 Light Truck
In collaboration with CATL, Pony.ai unveiled the world’s first automotive-grade, fully redundant Level 4 electric light-duty truck offering 18 cubic meters of cargo capacity and a 320–450 km range. The vehicle cuts freight costs by 40–50%, supports 600,000 km service life, and enables platooning operations on major expressways without onboard drivers.
3. PonyWorld 2.0 AI Upgrade and Global Deployment Plans
Pony.ai completed an upgrade of its proprietary PonyWorld training system to PonyWorld 2.0, enhancing its world model’s accuracy and data-collection efficiency to strengthen its closed-loop AI training. The company plans to expand its Robotaxi fleet to over 3,000 vehicles across 20 cities and deploy more than 1,000 units internationally, leveraging shared infrastructure.
