Pony.ai Rolls Out 4000 TFLOPS L4 Domain Controller, Reports 500% Sales Jump
Pony.ai unveiled a new L4 domain controller built on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion with dual DRIVE AGX Thor SoCs and NVLink, delivering 4000 FP4 TFLOPS for multi-sensor fusion and complex scenario perception. Flexible chip configurations target faster robotaxi rollouts and wider controller sales after a 500% year-over-year jump in 2025.
1. New Domain Controller Collaboration
Pony.ai partnered with NVIDIA to launch a next-generation autonomous driving domain controller based on the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform, integrating two DRIVE AGX Thor system-on-chips connected via NVLink for high-speed, low-latency compute. The controller meets L4 requirements such as multi-sensor fusion, full-scenario perception and advanced scenario understanding.
2. Performance and Technical Specs
The platform delivers up to 4000 FP4 TFLOPS of AI computing power while improving energy efficiency, safety redundancy and system robustness. Flexible single-chip and multi-chip configurations support multiple compute tiers and cooling solutions, enabling deployment across robotaxis, logistics, mining, autonomous shuttles and other intelligent mobility use cases.
3. Commercialization and Market Impact
Pony.ai saw shipments of its Fangzai domain controller surge over 500% year over year in 2025, with customers in Germany, the UK, South Korea, Japan and Switzerland. Building on unit-economics breakeven in two major Chinese markets, the company aims to expand its robotaxi fleet to over 3,000 vehicles across more than 20 cities globally by end-2026.
