PKX• POSCO to build new automotive galvanizing line at Gwangyang
- POSCO Holdings Inc. will invest KRW 480 billion to build a new continuous galvanizing line for automotive steel at Gwangyang Works.
- The No. 8 line will produce 450,000 metric tons a year of hot-dip galvanized steel sheet for vehicle exterior panels.
- Completion is scheduled for 2028, lifting annual hot-dip galvanized sheet capacity to 4,950,000 metric tons.
- The facility will link to a new electric arc furnace to supply lower-carbon automotive steel, targeting demand for larger exterior panels.
- AI and robotics will be deployed to improve process control, cut defects, boost productivity, and automate higher-risk tasks.
