PowerBank’s 4.22 MW Grandview Rd solar project in Lancaster County has cleared its Interconnection Impact Review, splitting the original 13.8 MW plan into multiple sites. Construction awaits permits, financing and enactment of Pennsylvania House Bill 1842 to launch the first community solar initiative offering bill credits to renters and homeowners.
1. Interconnection Approval
PowerBank’s 4.22 MW ground-mount Grandview Rd solar project in Lancaster County has completed its Interconnection Impact Review (IRR), a crucial step verifying grid compatibility and paving the way for construction. This milestone separates the project from the original 13.8 MW plan, now divided into multiple community sites.
2. Regulatory and Financing Conditions
Before breaking ground, PowerBank must secure permits, financing and the enactment of Pennsylvania House Bill 1842, currently under Senate review. If the bill fails to pass, the project will proceed under Pennsylvania’s net metering provisions in the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards Act.
3. Community Solar Initiative
Upon approval, the project will operate as Pennsylvania’s first community solar farm, enabling renters, businesses and homeowners to subscribe and receive electric bill credits without installing on-site equipment. This aligns with PowerBank’s pipeline exceeding 1 GW and its strategy to deliver clean, affordable energy across diverse customer segments.
