Princess Cruises Launches 177,800-Ton Star Princess with 20 Weekly Alaska Voyages
Princess Cruises deployed 177,800-ton Star Princess in Seattle on May 3, launching 20 weekly roundtrip voyages through Alaska’s Inside Passage and accommodating 4,300 guests. This launch expands Princess’s largest-ever Alaska program to eight ships and 180 departures and includes $260,000 in donations across Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Sitka.
1. Star Princess Debut
On May 3, Princess Cruises introduced its Sphere class vessel Star Princess in Seattle, marking the start of her inaugural Alaska season. The 177,800-ton ship accommodates 4,300 guests and sails 20 weekly roundtrip voyages from Pier 91 through the Inside Passage to ports including Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Sitka.
2. Record Alaska Season
The addition of Star Princess expands Princess Cruises’ largest-ever Alaska lineup to eight ships offering 180 departures between May and September 2026. The expanded fleet also includes Coral Princess, Royal Princess, Ruby Princess, Grand Princess, Emerald Princess, Discovery Princess and Island Princess.
3. Community Contributions
As part of its Alaska launch, Princess Cruises committed $100,000 to rebuild Ketchikan’s Joseph T. Craig American Legion Post, plus donations totaling $25,000 each to organizations in Juneau and Skagway and $10,000 to Sitka Trail Works, totaling $260,000 for local community support.
