PGRPGR

Progressive Insurance will offer up to $13,500 in down payment assistance to 200 first-time homebuyers through its expanded UpPayment program. This initiative is part of its Open the House commitment, which has allocated $16 million since 2024 across down payments, counseling for 15,000 households and educational tools for 300,000 buyers.

1. UpPayment Program Expansion

Progressive Insurance has enhanced its UpPayment program to provide personalized down payment support of up to $13,500 each to at least 200 eligible first-time homebuyers. The expansion aims to lower the initial financial barrier, enabling participants to secure their first home more swiftly.

2. Open the House Initiative

UpPayment is a key component of Progressive’s multi-year Open the House initiative, which combines financial assistance with practical homebuying education and partnerships. The broader program focuses on helping individuals sustain homeownership and build long-term wealth.

3. Eligibility and Application Process

First-time buyers who have not owned a home in the past three years must work with a HUD-certified housing counselor and secure a mortgage pre-approval to apply. The UpPayment program is open for applications through October 31, 2026.

4. Past Commitments and Impact

Since 2024, Progressive has committed over $16 million to down payment assistance, supported more than 100 families in buying homes, provided HUD counseling access to over 15,000 households, delivered educational tools to 300,000 buyers, and backed housing stabilization for 960 families.
