Prosus report says general-purpose robotics nears “GPT-3 moment”
BOTZ•Lower costs could accelerate adoption across industries
Falling hardware costs could bring a general-purpose robot priced around USD 20,000 within a couple of years.
Early adoption is expected in warehousing and logistics, then consumer and hospitality work; healthcare and construction are seen as later-stage markets.
Prosus sees robotics nearing a commercial inflection point
Prosus published a robotics market outlook, arguing the sector is nearing a “GPT-3 moment” that could unlock broad commercial deployment.
- Reliability on narrow tasks rose to 99.9% from about 65% in 2023, using a fraction of prior training data.
- The report forecast a “GPT-3 moment” within about a year, followed by a “GPT-4 moment” a couple of years later.
