PSEG Cuts Emissions 95% and Secures $900M in Energy Efficiency Savings

PSEG achieved a 95% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its 2005 baseline by retiring fossil assets, modernizing infrastructure and improving facility efficiency, while planting 775 trees and managing 325 acres of pollinator habitats. Its energy efficiency programs enrolled nearly 480,000 customers, delivering over $900 million in annual energy savings.

1. Environmental Initiatives

PSEG's Vegetation Management program planted 775 trees in 2025 and supported 51 pollinator habitat enhancement sites covering roughly 325 acres, including native seeding across 77 acres and planting 1,900 milkweed plants to bolster monarch butterfly populations and local ecosystems.

2. Emissions Reductions Efforts

Strategic decommissioning of older fossil generation, divesting remaining fossil assets and modernizing the gas network helped PSEG achieve a 95% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 operational emissions versus its 2005 baseline, underscoring its commitment to carbon reduction.

3. Energy Efficiency Programs

Nearly 480,000 residential and commercial customers participated in the Clean Energy Future – Energy Efficiency programs, which provided rebates, upgrades and services that collectively deliver over $900 million in annual customer savings by lowering energy use and bills.

4. Clean Energy Generation and Recognition

Operating nuclear plants that produce more than 80% of New Jersey's carbon-free electricity and 40% of statewide generation, PSEG maintains critical baseload capacity, earning recognition as a top 10 Most Responsible Company and a JUST Capital Industry Leader for its sustainability performance.
