PureCycle’s PureFive Resin Enables 25%-100% Recycled Content Coffee Lids
PureCycle and Plastic Ingenuity will produce coffee lids using PureCycle’s PureFive® resin with 25% to 100% recycled polypropylene content, certified for food contact by FDA. The move targets high-volume food service packaging, promoting circular economy solutions.
1. Collaboration Details
PureCycle Technologies has partnered with Plastic Ingenuity to integrate PureFive® recycled polypropylene resin into coffee lid production. The lids will contain between 25% and 100% recycled content, enabling food service brands to offer sustainable packaging without sacrificing performance.
2. Resin Technology and Certifications
PureFive® resin is produced through a proprietary dissolution recycling process that removes color, odor and additives from post-consumer polypropylene. It holds GreenCircle® recycled content certification and a No Objection Letter from the FDA, qualifying it for food-contact applications.
3. Market and Sustainability Impact
Coffee lids represent a high-volume, everyday item in the food service industry, making them ideal for reducing virgin plastic use. This collaboration demonstrates a scalable approach to circular material use and responds to escalating consumer and regulatory demands for sustainable packaging.
