Qualcomm and Arm jury to return next week after deliberations in contract dispute case
QCOM•A jury did not reach a verdict Friday in Qualcomm’s lawsuit alleging Arm breached licensing agreements and interfered with Qualcomm’s dealings with Meta. The jury is expected to resume deliberations Tuesday.
1. Jury deliberations continue
After about four hours of deliberations Friday, the jury did not reach a verdict and is expected to return Tuesday. The case concerns Qualcomm’s claims that Arm withheld software patches and design tools, violated a pricing agreement and tried to disrupt Qualcomm’s dealings with Meta by leaking a 2024 breach letter.
2. Contract terms at stake
Qualcomm’s license for Arm’s computing architecture runs until 2033. Qualcomm has also asked the judge to rule that it could stop paying royalties for five years if Arm breached the contract; the judge has not ruled, and Arm argues the penalty is unenforceable. Arm told the jury Qualcomm had not been harmed.
