1. Handset outlook
Qualcomm's CEO said the company's plan assumes global handset units will remain flat to down in calendar 2027. The CFO forecast QCT handset revenue to decline by a mid-single-digit percentage sequentially in the first quarter of fiscal 2027.
2. Data center ramp
The CEO said data center revenue is expected to exceed $650 million in the December quarter, while QCT non-handset revenue is expected to grow more than 60% year over year in fiscal 2027. Custom accelerators began shipping in October, and connectivity solutions with Amazon Web Services are expected to ramp later in November.
3. Customer engagements
The CFO said first-quarter fiscal 2027 guidance reflects shipments beginning to two hyperscaler customers for custom silicon engagements. The CEO said Qualcomm is in advanced discussions with a data center accelerator customer about subsequent custom silicon, and expects to retain more than 70% share in Samsung's next-generation smartphones.
