Rackspace to Deploy 30 MW of AMD AI Compute Across Global Data Centers
RXT•Rackspace Technology and AMD agreed to deploy 30 MW of AMD AI compute (Instinct MI355X, MI350P GPUs and EPYC CPUs) in Rackspace’s global data centers from late 2026 through 2028. It creates governed AI infrastructure for regulated sectors with Enterprise AI Cloud, Inference Engine, Inference as Service and bare-metal offerings.
1. Agreement Overview
Rackspace Technology and AMD signed a definitive agreement establishing AMD as a strategic technology partner at the silicon layer of Rackspace’s governed AI stack. The deal calls for a phased deployment of an initial 30 MW of AMD-based compute resources across Rackspace’s global data centers starting in late 2026 and completing in 2028.
2. Technical Infrastructure
The collaboration integrates AMD Instinct GPUs (MI355X, MI350P and future successors) and AMD EPYC CPUs within an Enterprise AI Cloud architecture. Four core services—Enterprise AI Cloud, Enterprise Inference Engine, Inference as Service and bare-metal solutions—will be fully operated under a single accountable partner model.
3. Market and Operational Impact
This governed infrastructure targets regulated industries such as healthcare, where demand for accountable AI compute is rising. Both companies will dedicate joint sales and marketing teams to pursue customer opportunities, aiming to establish a new managed enterprise AI infrastructure category distinct from traditional bare-metal offerings.
