Recurrent Energy signs Octopus Energy deal to optimize 14MW/43MWh Italy battery asset
CSIQ•Recurrent Energy signs first Italy battery optimization agreement
Recurrent Energy signed its first battery optimization agreement in Italy with Octopus Energy for a 14 MW/43 MWh BESS at Montalto di Castro.
The battery is co-located with the 35 MWp Montalto La Viola solar plant, majority-owned by Recurrent Energy; the PV site has operated since 2025.
Octopus will act as trading partner, using Kraken to dispatch the battery in real time to maximize revenues and cut imbalance costs.
The deal accompanies commissioning of Recurrent Energy’s first co-located BESS connected in Europe, among the earliest utility-scale projects operating in Italy.
