Redfin: US pending home sales rise 0.4% in early August as market shows flicker of life

- Pending home sales rose 0.4% week over week for the four weeks ended Aug. 9, though they fell 1.6% year over year.
- New listings increased 1.7% week over week, the biggest gain in five months, lifting total active listings 0.7%.
- Freddie Mac’s weekly average 30-year fixed mortgage rate ran at 6.69%, the highest in over a year.
- The median monthly housing payment rose 1.7% year over year to $2,626, keeping many buyers on the sidelines.
