Refinity Converts One Ton of Plastic Waste, Files Two Patents
Refinity produced one metric ton of product from real-world plastic waste with yields exceeding 60–70% in pilot runs and filed two patent applications protecting its DuoZone™ reactor and difficult-to-recycle waste conversion processes. The company secured three technology licenses and plans 2.5 kt mid-scale and 10 kt commercial demonstrations in 2026.
1. Pilot-Scale Validation
Over a week of continuous pilot operation with real-world plastic waste, Refinity produced one metric ton of chemical intermediates with yields consistently exceeding 60–70% and virtually no char byproducts, matching earlier results with controlled feedstocks.
2. Patent Filings
The company filed two patent applications—one protecting the DuoZone™ reactor design with flexible feedstock handling and precise reaction control, and another covering conversion processes for difficult-to-recycle plastics.
3. Technology Licensing
Refinity secured three technology licenses: efficient waste feeding methods from a U.S. university, catalyst technology for converting gas to high-value chemicals from a national lab, and core fluidized bed systems to enhance end-to-end processing.
4. Demonstration Roadmap
Building on Q3 2025 milestones, Refinity plans a mid-scale 2.5 kt per year demonstration at a partner site in 2026, followed by a 10 kt commercial demonstration and eventual full 150 kt scale deployment.
