Research Frontiers Q3 fee income drops on supply disruption
REFR•Research Frontiers said Q3 fee income fell sharply because of royalty timing and a supply disruption at Gauzy, while its net loss widened year over year. Gauzy restarted SPD emulsion and film production after new financing and debt restructuring.
1. Supply disruption weighs
Research Frontiers said Q3 fee income fell sharply after the absence of a prior-year government-contract royalty and disruptions to SPD film production at key licensee Gauzy. The company posted a wider net loss year over year and reported a Q3 loss per share of $0.01. Increased royalties from motorcycle helmets and ski and snow goggles partially offset the fee income decline. Gauzy restarted SPD emulsion and film production after new financing and debt restructuring.
2. Commercial focus
Research Frontiers said it is focusing on restoring supply and advancing commercial programs. It sees SPD-SmartGlass used in new North American aircraft models.
