Revolut gets approval to enter Argentina after purchasing Banco Cetelem
Argentina’s central bank approved Revolut’s acquisition of Banco Cetelem Argentina from BNP Paribas Personal Finance. The bank will be renamed Revolut Bank Argentina and will not initially offer public-facing services.
1. Argentina entry plans
Revolut said Banco Cetelem Argentina will be renamed Revolut Bank Argentina, with Agustin Danza appointed CEO. The bank will operate as a regulated entity and focus first on regulatory and operational requirements before a future market launch. More than 150,000 consumers have joined Revolut’s wait list in Argentina.
2. Regional expansion
Revolut secured a banking license in Colombia earlier this month and plans to begin operations there in 2027; about 200,000 people have joined its wait list. The company entered Mexico in January and has more than 1 million users there. It serves more than 80 million customers worldwide.
